2007 – THE CURVE

THE CURVE

THE CURVE

THE CURVE

THE APARTMENT:

THE CURVE

Crazy In Love With...

Leopard Prints!

I didn’t like leopard prints actually, I never do. They look too fierce and tacky to me. Remember when people say  ‘don’t tell that you don’t like something too soon, as you might fall in love with it’ (tak kenal maka tak cinta)? Now I understand it. Cuz I love leopard prints now!

Bought these items lately:

Toga shirt + Leopard prints = Must-Have!

Riding on a leopard: Look at the prints on the heels!

And a belt, perfect with any plain shirt/trousers!

It’s all because of you, Catherine. Damn. >.<

Thumbprint Cookies with Jam Filling

The title sounds cute, Thumbprint Cookies – Cookies that have the baker’s thumbprint! That’s because a small well is made in the middle of cookies by pressing with thumbs. And believe me, it’s not easy to shape the dough.

Just like other cookies recipe, cream butter & sugar, then add egg yolk, vanilla extract, flour and pinch of salt. Mix them well to form dough and cool it in fridge for 30 minutes. Then, roll them into balls and arrange them on baking tray. [TIPS: I line the baking tray with aluminium foil to avoid cookies sticking on it. You can use a non-stick baking tray, or lightly greased the tray.]

Press lightly with your thumb in the middle of the dough to form a well. Be patient, press softly and if the dough break/fall apart, just shape them back. Fill the well with your favorite jam and bake for 12 minutes. I think you can replace jam with honey, chocolate, cream or anything else that you like.

I rate these cookies for 99.9%! And I am happy to share them with you 2. ^^

Drawing on Toes!

Honestly, I think manicure, pedicure and nail arts are way too expensive, especially in cities like KL and PJ. Undoubtedly, they make your nails and fingers/toes look good. Again, due to budget constrain, I decided to do nail arts myself. It’s important to make sure your nails look good, at least clean and tidy, especially when you wear sandals or heels that show your toes.

I only apply nail polish and art on my toe nails and not finger nails because I do not want to ‘consume’ nail polish (when eating with bare hands or cooking). Besides that, I just simply can’t apply nail polish well on my right hand using left hand. To do nail art, I only bought the most basic tools – white color nail polish and a smallest size Chinese calligraphy brush. Then, just try my best to draw something on the nails!

Sakura – Four white dots and one pink dot in the middle. Not easy to be drawn on small nails.

Orchid (?) – Five white dots and one fuschia dot in the middle. Yes, this is how you draw flower back in kindergarten.

No-name Flower – I like this pattern, simple and nice.

Firework – Enough of flowers, sometimes.

Love – I think the heart shapes look cute on toes!

Lazy – Just plain, too lazy to draw anything.

Star – Lol, he said this looks ugly. XD

Mrs. Adam Delicious Pound Cake

The title of the recipe attracted me, Mrs. Adam Delicious Pound Cake from Simply Recipes Website. Never heard of or taste of pound cake, I decided to try it out to find out more. The cake is very simple to make, common ingredients with few simple steps.

Cream butter and icing sugar, add in eggs one by one and continue beating till mixing well. [TIPS: Using granulated/coarse sugar will give a rough texture to the cake, while using icing sugar gives a smoother texture.] Pour in cake flour and vanilla essence, continue to beat well. Bake the cake in a greased or non-stick pan, until the top surface is golden brown and cracked a little on top. [TIPS: Be careful with the amount of grease as this cake is buttery, considering the high ratio of butter to flour.]

Here are the photos, forgot to take the photos before cutting the cake. They were freshly baked, though.

Bun - Only for Your Eyes

I have soft spot for buns (both, the one to eat & the one to tie up your hair), which is one of the strong reasons I keep my hair long (still plan to keep it longer)! Not going to chop off my hair no matter how trendy pixie/bob cut is, at least not for now, as I have had enough nightmares back in secondary school times with the coconut-shell-look-like hairstyle.

I admire those ladies who tie up bun nicely, be it neat & classy like a ballerina, or a little tousled one which looks effortlessly chic. There are many ways to tie up a bun, depends on the length of hair, the layered cut and the style that you want. I tried once using the tool which makes a perfect neatly done bun, mentioned in a post before. This time, I tried another style, using just 1 rubber band & few bobby pins.

Firstly, tie up your hair low in ponytail using a rubber band, with the hair forming a hoop. Then, loop around the remaining tail around the rubber band and secure with pins. Hmm, I’m bad in describing the method, I know. Well, just tie a bun in whatever way that you like! As long as you get a bun, you are ready to go!

I tried another way to tie up a bun too, which is quite useful and suitable for those with shoulder length hair. Tie up your hair high in a ponytail, and use a small rubber band to hold the end of the ponytail. Hold the end, roll it up inwardly and secure the bun with pins. It looks like a hoop from the side view.

Here are some pictures of artist with my favourite look. Envy them to have hairstylist and makeup artist!
